When Alexia talked with me about the project my first thought was death. I thought a lot about how the images of death can be so cliche. Crosses, ravens, skulls etc. I wanted to create a scene that was more representative of death. I wanted to go to a place that was dying, on its final bow, someplace that was filled with decay. I knew the perfect spot was the Salton Sea. I also wanted to show the death of formality (suit and tie) and identity (blank face).

The gears of time have crusted over, the Conge man is disappearing and beauty is playing out his final act.
