Behind the Image:

The location of the Point Bonita Lighthouse is intriguing: it sits on a large rock on the north shore of the Golden Gate Strait, barely connected to the mainland. In order to get there, you have to go through a tunnel, carved out of rock. On the other side is a suspension bridge that leads to the lighthouse. Whereas the lighthouse was moved to its current location in 1877, the suspension bridge (modeled after the Golden Gate Bridge) was built in 1954 to replace an eroded natural land bridge.
