"Cannon Beach on the Oregon coast was at the top of my list of places I wanted to visit. Despite going in August when it's one of the warmer months of the year and gets the least amount of rainfall, it was cold and rainy. The silver lining was that there were fewer people on the beach because of it. I was able to capture Haystack Rock with a spectacular sky, but without the crowds of people."

"The drive to Torrey Pines was faster than expected, and I arrived at the beach with plenty of time to explore. I started walking along the shoreline and quickly stumbled upon this lifeguard tower; it seemed like the perfect spot to watch the sunset. The rolling clouds created spotlights that kept revealing different details from this scene. I was patiently waiting for the right moment. Suddenly, the light hit the station and created this warm glow all around me. I knew that was the reward for my patience and quickly pressed the shutter button to capture this image. What a lucky day."

"The Tent Ridge is a 10 mile hike with over 2000 feet of elevation gain. The trail starts with a steep climb, and as I knew it would be a true challenge to run up mountains, I decided to help myself out by packing light and carrying only food, water, a tripod, and a camera with one lens.
The first leg of this trail has a brutal climb. You gain the whole 2153 feet over the first three miles. My plan of running uphill quickly transformed into power walking as I found myself rapidly running out of energy. After one mile, I started feeling small snowflakes landing on my face, and where it was a pleasant surprise and kept me from overheating, I was also very aware that snow would make the ridge walk more challenging. After 3 miles, I was standing tall at the top of the mountain.
I took a moment to take in the rapidly moving clouds and to brace against the strong winds. It was a mesmerizing view, and after contemplating the scene for a few minutes I started to assemble my photography gear. I spent some time looking for different compositions, and eventually, I saw the sun lighting up the peak of a single mountain. It only took me a few minutes to capture this picture, but I will cherish the memories of this adventure forever."

"As the minutes were ticking down and my vacation was drawing to an end, the anxiety of failing to capture an unforgettable image started to get harder to ignore. Although years have passed, and my experience with landscape photography has taught me how to be patient, I still haven't quite learned how to deal with this Anxiety / Time paradox.
Fortunately, along with patience, my years of photography have also taught me how to work under pressure and to use that as a way to increase my creativity.
My last day visiting Bahia was cloudy and gloomy, but I was determined to capture at least one good picture. While walking along the coast I happened to notice these rocks. The shape and contrast quickly captured my attention and at that moment, I realized it was my opportunity to return home with a memorable image. I quickly assembled my tripod, adjusted my settings, and captured this long exposure.
Once more, Lady Luck was on my side, and I was able to return home with memories of a perfect vacation."

Croatia. "Plitvice Lakes National Park is a wonderland of waterfalls. It was very challenging to photograph them as there was mist in the air everywhere created from the falling waters in every direction. Germany. "When I woke up ready to shoot, I was greeted with a wall of fog that seemed to shatter any hopes I had of partly cloudy skies and perfect lighting. Nevertheless, I ventured out to see if a moody shot was in my midst. What I found exceeded what I had hoped. While driving, a rocky ridge caught my eye engulfed in a thick fog that showed no sign of lifting. Still, I waited with my tripod set. About to pack up, the fog slowly but surely began to snake its way back behind the mountain creating the perfect clearing for a thin line of trees to emerge; cutting the fog with their rough edges. What started out as a gloomy day, ended as a successful expedition into the mist of the mountains."
