Despite going in August when it's one of the warmer months of the year and gets the least amount of rainfall, it was cold and rainy. The silver lining was that there were fewer people on the beach because of it. I was able to capture Haystack Rock with a spectacular sky, but without the crowds of people."

To the rest of us, it's a reminder that while the ocean is amazingly powerful, it can also be so soft and gentle. It was a little after 8AM in the morning in Kauai. The rising sun was throwing color in the adjacent sky, as if to announce its arrival. This wave caught my eye because of its perfect form and gentle curl."
